Tuesday, September 09, 2003 Profound and obscure Having trouble keeping up with the mercurial and dynamic mind of George W Bush. As reported in the SMH Online, the following points were both made in the same address, to the US nation I believe it was: •Despite Mr Bush's claims before the war that al-Qaeda was linked to the Iraqi regime, he said we "cannot be certain" whether foreign terrorist groups were working with remnants of Saddam Hussein's regime. •He repeated that Iraq was now the centre of the US war on terrorism and warned Americans that failure there would mean more terrorist attacks on the homeland. Again I say: "whah?" posted by Jojo | 9:11 AM Sunday, September 07, 2003 Flashmobbing for our time Flashmobbing has now been defined by the SMH: The "flashmob" phenomenon, which is sweeping the United States and Europe, uses the internet and text messages on mobile phones to organise crowds that appear suddenly, perform prearranged mass acts and disperse as just as quickly. ~it's official, boys n girls, we're livin in a flashmob world (oh this crazy third millenium) posted by Jojo | 11:46 AM San Fran mayoral candidates replaced with evil killer androids? or vice versa The humanity of some of the candidates for the San Francisco mayoral election has been called into question. Wave Magazine has administered to all candidates the Voight-Kampff test, which as you will remember from the classic film Bladerunner, is one of the few ways of distinguishing a replicant (that is, a psychotic and potentially lethal android) from the humans they imitate so well. Proving (again) the eternal truth and relevance of Bladerunner...(link via Davezilla) Shame they couldn't test the California Governship candidates, but I guess we already know about Arnie... posted by Jojo | 9:15 AM |
