Sunday, June 01, 2003 Mainstream press finally reporting US distortion of Iraqi WMDs Here's a sample from today's SMH Online: A growing number of US national security professionals are accusing the Bush Administration of slanting the facts and hijacking the intelligence apparatus to justify its rush to war in Iraq. The channel nine TV news presenter last night used the words "Iraq's supposed weapons of mass destruction". Well it's about farking time. I was starting to give up on...that thing I used to hear sometimes in the mainstream media, aka the first casualty of war. posted by Jojo | 1:02 PM Terrifying and degrading British war crimes in Iraq...make it to p 67 Why was this story buried back on p 67 of my Sunday newspaper? A British soldier is being investigated for war crimes when one of them took his happy snaps to be developed back home. The photos show an Iraqi prisoner of war, tied by his feet, dangling upside down from a forklift which is being driven around by laughing British soldiers. Other photos show another Iraqi POW being forced to peform oral sex on the man tied to the crane, then other naked Iraqi POWS being forced into sexual positions together. The parents of the soldier who was developing his happy snaps, have plaintively questioned why he should be punished for being "naive". Does "sociopath" = "naive"? No, it does not. posted by Jojo | 12:56 PM |
